Commendation breast bar-medal is awarded for: a) Grave personal danger in the intelligent performance of duty, OR, b) A highly creditable unusual police accomplishment. Note: Some criteria situations that merit the awarding of the Commendation medal-breast bar, but not limited to: 1) An arrest involving a victim being shot or killed. 2) An arrest involving numerous firearms and/or a very large quantity of narcotics. 3) An arrest where the Officers life was in grave personal danger. 4) A rescue where the Officers life was in grave personal danger. This breast bar is worn above the Officers shield and above the Meritorious Police Duty medal-breast bar. If the Officer has multiple awards of this medal a second bronze star would go over the light green area and the second bronze star would go over the dark blue area. The third award would go in the center white area. Further awards would lead to an additional breast bar starting again with the bronze star in the center (see photo below right.) |
